Influences:
Biography: Irish artist, Sarah Purser earned a reputation as a society portraitist but she was influential in other areas of art. Beginning in 1911, she held social gatherings for the leaders in Irish academia in her home, Mespil House. In 1924, she began the Friends of the National Collections of Ireland, campaigning to bring artwork by Irish artists back into the country. She also founded the stained-glass studio, An Tur Gloine (the Tower of Glass) that remained open in Dublin from 1903 to 1944.
