Biography: Francois Remond began as an apprentice in 1763 and became a master bronze gilder in 1774. He was a prolific craftsman who had many clients in the French court and also the fashionable furniture dealer, Dominique Daguerre. Remond collaborated with bronze caster Pierre Gouthiere until the latter went bankrupt in 1788. He also produced various ornaments for clockmakers and furniture mounts for ebenistes, including David Roentgen.
