Biography:
Ercole de’Roberti was the successor to Tura in the Este court, receiving the title in 1486. Little is known of his training up until then, although it is suspected that he assisted Cossa. He was a leading painter in the Ferrarese School, but only one of his works has survived. It is an altarpiece with a Madonna Enthroned with Saints and was painted for the S. Maria in Poroto at Ravenna.
