Artist: Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828 - 1882) Biography:
Destined for success because of his multi-talented family, his father was a scholar and his sister was a poet, Dante Gabriel Rossetti flirted with a career in literature before undertaking painting. He helped found the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, who opposed the stiff, academic nature of the art world at the time, which they saw was a result of Raphael’s teachings. After abandoning the movement, Rossetti worked in watercolors and oils of beautiful women later in his career.
