Biography:
Hans Rottenhammer was a German painter, moving to Italy in 1589. In the early 1590’s, he lived in Rome but moved to Venice from 1596 to 1606. Rottenhammer created small mythological landscapes, sometimes painting on copper. He returned to Germany in 1606 and settled in Augsburg. Despite his success there, he died in poverty due to his alcoholism.
