Biography:
Irish born, Sean Scully was raised in England and studied at the Croydon College of and Newcastle University. He then studied at Harvard University and settled in the United States in 1975. His work combines his varied influences in a conglomeration of Minimalism, Conceptual Art, and Abstract Expressionism. At first glance, his paintings seem Minimalist because of their simple patterns of contrasting colors. However a closer look reveals Scully’s attention to detail and layering, incorporating interesting textures and colors
