Biography: Jakob Seisenegger was an Austrian portraitist. In 1531, he was appointed court painter to Emperor Ferdinand I at Augsburg. His painting skills were mediocre but he was influential in the development of the full-length portrait. His most famous portrait is a full-length depiction of Charles V that was the model for the same portrait done by Titian. Seisenegger worked in Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and also in Prague and Vienna.
