Biography:
Born in Arizona, Wayne Thiebaud first worked in New York City as a sign-painter and cartoonist. He began painting in 1949, using his skills from his former occupations to build an original style of work. He is most famous for his thickly painted canvases of junk food and deserts. However his later work consists of primarily women figures in harsh light with plain backgrounds.
