Biography:
Constant Troyon was a French painter who was born in Sevres. He took up the family trade and became a porcelain director at the factory in his hometown. Around 1830, he took an interest in landscape painting and was a leading member of the Barbizon School. In 1847, Troyon traveled to Holland where he was influenced by Cuyp and Potter. His later work was primarily seascapes. He enjoyed a prolific career and an international reputation.
