Biography: Born to unwed mother and painter Suzanne Valadon, Maurice Utrillo was introduced to the artist lifestyle at an early age. He learned his trade from his mother and originally began producing work as therapy while in detoxification clinic. Despite reoccurring drug and alcohol addictions, Utrillo created a significant amount of work during his career. He became extremely religious in his old age after winning battle against addiction.
